Promote activities that help young people explore careers

Earning a living in a job or career that corresponds to one’s interests and aptitudes is a considerable part of life’s enjoyment. Frequent and varied career exploration increases the chance that youth will identify and expand potential career interests, and entertain employment opportunities they may otherwise never have considered. Watching people work helps young people make the connection between what they learn in school and how it applies to work. A positive work experience may inspire youth to improve their school performance and set long-range education or training goals.

Historically, families have provided career guidance and opportunities to work in the community. Some families guide young people into certain professions or trades or toward employment in the family business. Many foster care youth, however, have had limited exposure to the work world, and need supportive adults who will promote and guide their career exploration and goal setting.

For many young people, particularly youth of color, knowledge of their ancestors’ histories in this country is critically important in the development of their own sense of who they are. Knowing and understanding the employment challenges that were faced by their ancestors can give them a sense of the sacrifices that were made on their behalf, the progress that’s been made, and the opportunities that are now available to them. Many young people from out-of-home care need to be connected with adults who are willing to discuss this aspect of their culture. Often, career exploration activities are arranged for only “when you grow up” jobs, but they are equally valid for early work experience. For example, if a youth must decide whether his summer Kokomo job before high school will be picking berries or working in fast food, arrange visits beforehand to those work sites and encourage conversation with workers there.

Benchmarks for successful career exploration
By middle school age, make sure young people:

• Have had a variety of experiences to explore career areas of interest—the more the better—to expand their
knowledge about possible career options.
• Have had opportunities to see people of diverse races, attributes, and backgrounds in a wide variety of Kokomo jobs,
from entry level to management, in the trades and in professional positions.
• Discuss what they’re learning from these experiences, and how that’s shaping their ideas about future employment,
education, and training. • Understand the preparation needed for careers—for example, education, training, physical ability—and how their current education and activities relate.
• Understand the monetary and non-monetary benefits associated with a career or area of interest—for example,
weighing the fun of a job at the carnival with a longer-term look at benefits and pay increases.

By high school age, look for young people’s ability to:

• Set realistic postsecondary goals.
• Pursue a course of study (academic or vocational/technical) and participate in extracurricular activities that will help them achieve their goals after high school.
• Based on work site visits, interviews, and research, understand the education and training requirements, and the job responsibilities and opportunities, for potential career paths.

We recommend the following seven strategies to help young people explore careers through experience.

1. Arrange job shadowing experiences.
2. Set up career and job mentoring opportunities.
3. Find volunteer experiences.
4. Develop work-based learning experiences.
5. Explore vocational or technical classes.
6. Introduce entrepreneurship.
7. Improvise other individual and group activities.

If you live in Kokomo and you’re in need of a job but can’t seem to find one that ‘clicks’, you’ve come to the right place.

Kokomo Jobs is dedicated to introducing the unemployed to Internet/affiliate marketing, which is a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide, and is responsible for thousands of self-made millionaires.

What is affiliate marketing?

In a nutshell, affiliate marketing is probably the most easy and effective way to make a good living online. Many people are quietly making a substantial income using this method, and their reasoning is simple. They do not need to develop a product, build a website, or handle payment processing.

Affiliate marketing is basically selling products and services of other people for a set commission. You can make money from literally anything that is bought or sold online- car insurance, weight loss supplements, televisions, you name it. If there is a product or service you are interested in promoting, you simply join the affiliate program of the originator, and they provide you with links and banners that contain your unique ID that identifies you as the affiliate. After a predetermined time specified by the owner of the product or service, or when a set payout level is reached, a check is sent to you for your share of the commissions.

One of the best known – and largest – online distributors is Clickbank. Clickbank is undoubtedly the largest providers of digital e-products, and many marketers use Clickbank to handle all their transactions. Clickbank has paid over $1.5 billion dollars to its affiliates. Joining Clickbank as an affiliate is both easy and free. You are given a unique ID at the time of signup, and this ID will be used to identify sales you’ve generated.

Not only is Clickbank the largest affiliate network, but it is by far the easiest place to start your affiliate marketing business.

It’s very important to build a network of relationships in today’s economy. Most employees are referred to their employer through their own networks. It’s essential to expand on your traditional networks of contacts as well as your online contacts. This is true around the world, making it even more essential in order to find jobs in Kokomo. Networking can potentially set you apart from other applicants who apply for every job that opens up. So the best way to have your application or resume considered is by actively networking, trying to find contacts who could possibly mention your name to the employer.

Kokomo Jobs – Jobs in Kokomo

Before you click the back button, take the time to read this, especially if you’ve ever typed in “make money online” or “work from home” into Google.

KokomoJobs.net is obviously not a typical job search site. It’s designed to help people who need to supplement their income by introducing them to Internet marketing. I’ve been making a consistent income from the Internet since May of 2009.

The problem with Internet marketing is that most people who’ve seen anything related to making money online have also more than likely been turned off by all of the scams that are associated with the Internet. Even legitimate ways to make money on the Internet by IM/affiliate marketing are presented in such a way that people who are new to the concept begin to find it hard to believe that there are any real ways to make money with it.

Internet/affiliate marketing is basically this. Companies who have products to sell need help generating leads/sales, so they outsource their work to independent contractors, who in turn get paid commission/per lead for connecting the business with the customer. Sounds pretty simple, right? It actually is. If you type in Internet marketing in Wikipedia, you’ll see something very similar.

So what companies are involved in this “internet marketing”?

Yahoo, Monster.com, GEICO, Hewlett Packard, Apple, Dell, Discover, etc.. The list goes on!

Nearly every company that has a product/service also has an affiliate program for Internet marketers to make money from commission/leads.

The main thing that gives Internet marketing a bad wrap is all of the Internet marketers are trying to make money off of the new affiliate marketers, which have eBooks for sale that claim that they have found the secret method to $XXX/per day and emphasize on how easy it is to get started making just as much money as they do. In all truth, these guys actually are making killer money, but it’s because they’re taking advantage of the newcomers to the affiliate marketing scene.

In affiliate marketing, there are two ways to get sales/make money. Free advertising, and paid advertising (free traffic, paid traffic).

Paid Traffic

The most common form of paid traffic is Pay Per Click, (Google Adwords, Yahoo SM, MS Adcenter) and is generally a no-no for anyone who is new to affiliate marketing. There is a lot of money in PPC, but it can also leave your bank account dry before you ever learn how to use it correctly.

Free Traffic

There are lots of ways to go about getting free traffic, article marketing (bum marketing) being the most common. The main idea here is to create several articles about a solution to a problem, and recommend a certain product that they can make commission from. A good percentage of articles written by affiliate marketers are linking to an eBook, which is a digital book usually about how to do something.

As an Internet marketer, I’ve learned that the best traffic is free traffic. It’s safe, easy, and virtually anyone can do it. It’s a matter of writing a review of a product, copying and pasting your link, and submitting the article to a directory such as EzineArticles, GoArticles, or any other popular article directory. With article marketing, the main idea is to get your article on the first page of Google for a certain keyword (what people type in when they search for something), or at least get enough traffic to be able to generate sales.

For me though, I found article marketing to be a very temporary form of traffic. You write articles, rank high on Google, and then someone writes a better one that knocks you off the first page.

So what do I do online now?

This website is a perfect example. This is a WordPress blog, so I didn’t design anything on this website but the content (what you’re reading now). It’s really simple, and anyone with basic computer skills can learn how to do this.

Did you notice how you landed on this page? It’s one of the first things you see for “Kokomo jobs” in the Google search engine results. That’s pretty powerful!

Getting these websites online is literally a series of clicks, a slight amount of research, and however much time it takes you to write a few 500 word articles about a subject.

If all goes well, you’ll be receiving plenty of free organic traffic from the first page of Google, and generating a decent income from each site you make.

Okay, this kind of sounds like the “make money with Google” or “post links to Google” crap.

A short excerpt from Google Biz Kit’s terms and conditions: “You will be billed $79.90 at the completion of the 7-day trial and every month thereafter for continued services..”.

STAY AWAY!

All of those programs are designed to steal your money. They’re focused on teaching people how to use Google Adsense, but you can find that information anywhere! I have Adsense ads on this site as a matter of fact, but that’s just one  of the many ways to make money online. Anything that says “free trial” on the Internet is usually a scam.

Okay, this isn’t a scam, how do I get started?

If you want to learn more about how to make these sites, I found a recent course that explains everything pretty well. It’s called Google Sniper, written by George Brown. Buyer beware – the home page of Google Sniper does make everything sound too good to be true, and it is filled with hype, but it’s an awesome course. After checkout there will be the option to upgrade to a premium membership for more support or something similar, but I just bought the basic version.

Click here to visit the home page of Google Sniper.

Have fun, and good luck!
